A quality American-made Sage fly rod from the highly regarded Graphite III era.

PLEASE NOTE – THIS ROD IS BEING SOLD AS SPARES OR REPAIR.

One of the rod sections has a visible crack/damage to the blank, as clearly shown in the photographs. Because of this I am selling the complete rod strictly as spares or repair, with no guarantee that it is currently fishable.

The remaining sections, cork handle, reel seat and fittings appear in good used condition for their age, with normal signs of use.

Supplied with the original Sage rod tube shown in the photographs.

The VPS was a quality Sage rod in its day. Contemporary Sage rods around this level were several hundred dollars new; as a sensible guide I would describe the original retail as approximately £250–£300 / around $350–$400 when new, rather than claim an exact figure I can’t substantiate. For context, comparable Sage 476 models from the period were around $295–$395.
